They are In. Read their Stories.

What are you invested in? Whether it’s providing inclusive theater, accessible education programs, inspiring architecture, highly-visible artwork, or connecting to your community, Redhouse is a place like no other. Help us continue to make a difference for the next decade.

Just some of those who help us carry this mission forward are featured below.  They are Redhouse.  Help us help them.

“My first experience at Redhouse was in 2019 when I interned for the first half of that season. I was still in college, it was my second professional theatre gig, and it was my second time playing a lead in a musical. I was intimidated and excited. Intimidated by the surrounding professionals and astounding talent but excited to finally get to be in a show with them.

This intimidation did not last long though! It quickly dissipated as I was immediately accepted by such friendly and hardworking actors, creative team, and staff. I walked away from my internship having learned so much about how a theatre runs and feeling like I was now part of a really special community.

Since then, I have had the immense pleasure to come back to Syracuse several times as a professional actor. What is absolutely crazy is that after 6 years RedHouse still cultivates that same sense of community.

It is SUCH a treat to rehearse and perform in a space that is as welcoming as RedHouse is. It allows performers to make bigger and bolder choices without fear of failure. Giving performers such an inviting space helps them be the best and most creative version of themselves. This, in turn, creates better shows. RedHouse does that! It has helped me discover my identity as a performer and as a person.

The internship and every show that I’ve done with RedHouse have shaped me into the confident artist that I am today. It is because of this welcoming and warm atmosphere that it is always such a treat to come back to Syracuse. It feels like a second home (is that why they call it redHOUSE???)

I am so lucky to have gotten to work here. I also believe Syracuse is lucky to have RedHouse Arts Center and the talented and passionate people that keep it running.”

“I’ve been working with RedHouse professionally and through RedEd since 2022. Everyone involved is incredibly kind and considerate. As an autistic person, they make me feel safe, supported, and that my voice matters.

Something I love about RedHouse is that they promote diversity and inclusion through meaningful action with compelling stories, thoughtful casting, and their partnership with Arc.

I also appreciate that every RedEd production is treated with the same care and thought as any mainstage production. They always feel professional and complete.

In addition to being in the show, RedEd has given me opportunities to be involved in the creative process through things like prop building, puppet building, and script writing. Because of this, I’ve had a more well-rounded theatre experience.

I’m proud to be a member of the RedHouse family, and I look forward to working with them for years to come.”

“Redhouse Ed helped ignite my love for theatre, and being trusted to play Horton in Seussical gave me the confidence to grow as a performer.

Now, as a Performing Arts major at Syracuse University, I carry those lessons with me every day. Redhouse has always created a space where everyone belongs and differences are celebrated.

As an autistic performer, I’m beyond excited and grateful to take on the lead role of Pippin in Redhouse Arts Center’s upcoming production, part of their incredible inclusive theatre program in collaboration with ARC.

I can’t wait to bring Pippin’s story to life and give this role everything I’ve got.”

“Participating in Babelfest was absolutely life changing.

The time and space to work on developing a new piece of theatre is invaluable and we walked away with a stronger script that we cannot wait to do more with.

The Redhouse facilities are fantastic and the resources of the theatre were exactly what we needed to get our work done. The staff and local creatives were talented and eager to jump into the work and made the experience of workshopping a rich and beautiful one.

I hope to be back at Redhouse soon and can’t wait to keep supporting.”
