Music
Red House Arts Center has become a standout venue in Central New York for experimental
musicians, hosting Alva Noto & Byetone from Germany, mudboy from Providence, and Zach Layton,
MV Carbon and The Loud Objects from New York City. This trend continues when Red House
welcomes Ashtray Navigations and the Flower-Corsano Duo from the Termite Club in the United
Kingdom.
Leo Crandall
Crandall will play a requinto, an antique one stringed marxolin, a 1970's
casio mini keyboard, electric cello, baritone guitar and electric guitar as well as providing lead vocals. He will be joined at times by Frank Hegyi on percussion, Rich Curry on washtub bass and Bob Alexander on accordion and melodica, vocalist Mark Gibson (of The Tarzan Brothers and The Ron Spencer Band) and Chicago-based guitarist Mike Fierce among others.
Crandall will perform (mostly) original music, including new arrangements of songs from his two CD's with The Gonstermachers and new material written for this show at Red House. Crandall's video projections, similar to his recent exhibition at the Everson Museum of Art, will accompany his performance.
Folkstrings

Folkstrings has been playing together since 1992. Their music is of the late 60's and early 70's, and includes Peter, Paul and Mary, Tom Paxton, John Denver, The Kingston Trio and Bob Dylan. Folkstrings performs all over Central New York. They have had the pleasure of performing at the Carrier Dome, the New York State Fair, the Syracuse OnCenter and, of course, the Red House Arts Center. Domestically and abroad, Folkstrings has been known to play as far away as Elkins, West Virginia and Dublin, Ireland.
Folkstrings is Andy Revutsky (mandolin and vocals), Bill Hider (vocals and guitar), Terry Hill (vocals and guitar), Mike Kester (banjo and vocals) and Mary Kester (vocals and Irish whistle). Folkstrings plays a little gospel, a touch of blues, a hint of bluegrass, and a whole lot of folk.

Karen Savoca & Pete Heitzman

Central New York favorites Karen Savoca & Pete Heitzman make their highly
anticipated return to Red House on Saturday, November 7 at 8PM. Karen & Pete
have been performing their “addictive blend of hybrid pop with lots of jazz whimsy
and slippery funk” (Dirty Linen) across the state and across the country for over a
decade, and the Red House Regulars series would not be the same without them.
Karen Savoca is a gifted songwriter, drawing you into her world with humor and
compassion, telling her stories with such grace and ease, you feel as though you've
been invited to her table for supper. Savoca composes and records on a variety of
instruments, but opts for the primal combination of voice and drum in live
performance, and the groove is deep and satisfying.

Ash Nav consists of Phil Todd (guitar/electronics) and Melanie Delaney, aka Ocelocelot (electronics).
Michael Flower (shahi baaja, a modified electric version of the Indian bulbul tarang)
has been involved in a number of solo projects and is best know for his work with Vibracathedral Orchestra. Chris Corsano plays drums and has performed with Paul Flaherty, Jim O'Rourke, Björk, Evan Parker, Jandek, Thurston Moore, Vampire Belt and Six Organs of Admittance among others.
